Q. How did you get interested in political science?
A. I study international relations, especially why countries sometimes go to war. I got interested in other countries by traveling and hearing stories about other countries from my family. My dad fought in a war.

Q. What do you like and dislike about your job?
A. I like learning new things and teaching students new things. I dislike grading.

Q. How many hours a day do you usually work?
A. It depends. Sometimes I work 20 hours and other times I work 2.

Q. How has the coronavirus affected your job?
A. I am teaching in the spring and I have to teach online because we can’t meet in person.

Q. Where is your office located?
A. It is in the Kimball Tower, the tallest building on the BYU campus. I have a good view of the mountains!

Q. What is the book that you are writing about?
A. It is about when political leaders fear that revolutions are spreading and how that affects their relations with other countries.

Q. How many hours a day do you usually work?
A. It depends. Sometimes I work 20 hours and other times I work 2.

Q. Where did you grow up?
A. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, in a town called Martinez. It is where John Muir, the famous naturalist, was from.

Q. What are your hobbies?
A. I like to spend time with my family and my friends especially outdoors, doing things like hiking and camping.
